PRESS RELEASE with the first results from the Aristarchos telescope:
"New Greek observatory sheds light on old star"
The first two papers using data from the 2.3m Aristarchos telescope have been accepted for publication in MNRAS:
1) The bow-shock and high-speed jet in the faint, 40 arcmin diameter, outer halo of the evolved Helix planetary nebula (NGC 7293), Meaburn, Boumis & Akras 2013, MNRAS, in press.
2) "The expansion proper motions of the extraordinary giant lobes of the planetary nebula KjPn 8 revisited", Boumis & Meaburn 2013, MNRAS, 430, 3397.
Observations have resumed as usual, weather permitting.
For technical reasons the MES-AT spectrometer and the VEC camera are not available at the moment.
